Polar Plunge Fundraising Goal Exceeded!
The Climate Reality Project Northern Virginia Chapter “Ferocious Felines” team raised $5,323.41, exceeding their goal of $5,000, for the Chesapeake Climate Action Network (CCAN) Keep Winter Cold Polar Plunge. In addition to supporting CCAN, funds will be used to support Fairfax County’s Get2Green initiative at Centre Ridge Elementary School.
Polar Plunge to Keep Winter Cold
The Climate Reality Project Northern Virginia Chapter has formed its first Chesapeake Climate Action Network (CCAN) Keep Winter Cold Polar Plunge Team. The Ferocious Felines NoVA Chapter Plunge Team has veteran and new plungers who will be plunging on February 10th at National Harbor.
We are so excited that so far, we have two elementary school students plunging with us – Kelsie and Laura. They have presented information about the plunge to the entire 5th grade! Kelsie and Laura named our team out of their love for all cats big and small.
Funds we raise at the plunge will be used to protect endangered snow leopards and to support Centre Ridge Elementary School where Kelsie and Laura attend. The school is joining Fairfax County’s Get2Green initiative! These funds will help the school with the initial steps, such as eliminating food waste and planting gardens. The students and the principal are very excited to get started. The funds raised at the plunge will go a long way toward getting the school off on the right note and helping to engage the community and the students.
Please support our team by either:
- joining in the festivities /cheering your team on February 10 at National Harbor or;
- joining the team, 10 year plunge veteran Natalie’s secret plunge tips provided, or
- making a donation to the team. We’re currently 78% towards raising our team goal of $5,000. Your donation, of any size, will help.
- There are two ways to donate:
1. On line by clicking on Ferocious Felines, or
2. Sending a check endorsed to CCAN to
